About Us

Staff pic 2016We started YardArt in 2004, with the vision to offer inspiration with unique and creative pieces to adorn indoor and outdoor spaces. Where possible we do that with art created locally, and currently have work from more than 40 different artists. This means you may find a style, finish or design you like but want something a bit different. With local artists, we can work to help you achieve that.

Have a group you’d like to bring through? You are most welcome at YardArt. We often have car rally or garden groups come through so give us a quick call or email to let us know and we’ll be sure to make you feel welcome.

YardArt is our retail arm to the business and designs@49 is the creative, manufacturing and distribution arm.

designs@49 – The creative division of YardArtWall Panels Triptych

We specialise in the manufacture and distribution of contemporary designed statues, garden plaques, water features and bird baths – Garden Art. Made in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions.

Working with natural raw products and hand finishing with different colours and textures – many made to our own colour specifications – allows us to provide a unique product range. This means that two pieces of the same style & colour will have some variations so that every piece we make is unique.

Phoenix Italia – Timeless Beauty

In 2012, we purchased Phoenix Italia and brought it here to YardArt. It was a natural progression on from the contemporary ranges we have, and suits classical, English and Italian style gardens beautifully.

We now manufacture all Phoenix Italia products onsite. The Phoenix Italia website is currently under development, so if you wish to enquire about this range, get in touch and we can send you a detailed catalogue with the full range available.

The Sculpture Walk – Our latest addition

Our most recent addition to the yard is the Sculpture Walk. This was a large project for us, taking over a year to turn a large, unused grassy slope behind our showroom into a special space where you can wander through and view artwork, statues, aggregates and paving in garden settings.

A winding path takes you up behind the showroom, to a zen garden, beach, formal and informal paved areas, cottage garden, vege garden, and at the end of the line, the “Dead End” – a graveyard where you follow the loop back down towards the showroom and display yard.

Check out how we turned our dreams into a reality and all the before and after photos here…

So if you are from further afield and planning a day trip this way, we are well worth the visit! We are open 7 days so make us part of your day soon.
